🐾 MY RESCUE STORY 🐾

I was rescued from a slaughterhouse, but with nowhere safe for me to stay, my rescuer cared for me on a nearby vacant lot for about a year. Wanting to give me the chance for a safer and more secure future, they reached out for help, and I was welcomed into rescue care. After such a long journey, I’m now ready to begin a new chapter and find a loving forever family to call my own.

💖 MY PERSONALITY 💖

Hi, I’m Sangkeum! I’m a petite, clever Jindo girl with a wonderfully gentle and calm nature. I genuinely like people and have a sweet, easygoing way about me that makes it surprisingly easy to connect. I’m also very quiet—my rescuers have hardly ever heard me bark. One of my most endearing qualities is how much I communicate through my eyes; sometimes, you only need to look at my face to know exactly how I’m feeling.

Once I feel close to someone, I have an adorable way of showing just how much I trust them—I’ll roll over and show my belly. It’s my gentle way of letting someone know that I feel safe and comfortable in their presence. I may have that classic Jindo intelligence and awareness, but underneath it all, I’m a tender-hearted girl who forms meaningful connections with the people I trust.

I’m ready for the chance to trade life on a tether for cozy days, trusted companionship, and the simple experience of belonging to a family.

 

🐶 MY SOCIAL SKILLS 🐶

· With People: I can be a little shy when I first meet someone, but treats help me warm up quickly, and it usually doesn’t take long before I’m comfortable being petted. I’m also comfortable being gently picked up with an arm supporting me under my belly. I haven’t had experience with children under 13 yet, so my comfort level with younger kids is still unknown.

· With Dogs: I’m comfortable approaching unfamiliar dogs to say hello, but I generally prefer a friendly greeting rather than engaging in play.

· With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown

 

⚡️ ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY ⚡️

I have a moderate energy level – I enjoy spending time outdoors, but I’m also happy to settle down and relax afterward.

I’m an experienced walker with good leash manners—I don’t tend to pull and follow my person well throughout our walks.

 

🧠 TRAINING & HABITS 🧠

I may show some mild food guarding around both people and other dogs, so a little care and appropriate management around mealtimes will help keep everyone comfortable.

I’m calm and settled when I’m in a kennel

I’m comfortable with both indoor pee pads and going potty outdoors.

I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with:

💌 SPECIAL NOTES 💌

My past hasn’t given me much experience with the comforts of a real home. Even after I was rescued, circumstances meant that I spent about a year living outdoors while tethered, despite being regularly cared for. Because of that, transitioning into an indoor family environment may bring plenty of new experiences for me. A patient family willing to give me time to learn a new routine and understand that I’m finally home would mean so much.
