💖 MY PERSONALITY 💖
Hi, I’m Chaeso! I’m a calm, easygoing, and independent girl with a gentle nature. At home, I’m very relaxed and spend most of my downtime sleeping or quietly resting. Once we head outside, I enjoy exploring and have a moderate amount of energy.
I’m not the type of dog who constantly asks for attention, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy affection! Once I’m comfortable with you, I’ll come over when I’m curious or ready for some love. I tend to be a little more reserved when I’m out and about, but give me a few days to settle in and you’ll start to see more of my sweet personality.
I’m also a polite girl with great manners. I settle nicely at restaurant patios, don’t jump on furniture unless I know I’m allowed, and generally respect boundaries around the home. I can be a little stubborn sometimes and may give you a funny side-eye if I don’t see a good reason to do something, but food is usually a very convincing argument!
🐶 MY SOCIAL SKILLS 🐶
· With People: I’m friendly and waggy with people I know. With strangers, I’m more reserved but generally calm. I prefer to sniff and get to know someone before being touched, and I don’t enjoy strangers reaching directly over my head for a head pat. Give me a little space and time, and I’ll become much more comfortable.
· With Visitors: I may alert bark when someone unfamiliar enters my home. I do best when I can meet new visitors outside first and then walk inside together.
· With Children: I’m very gentle and tolerant with children and have done very well around them.
· With Dogs: I’m generally dog-neutral and tend to ignore other dogs rather than actively seek them out. Even at dog parks, I usually stay close to my person instead of running off to play. On rare occasions, I may lunge toward another dog out of excitement or an attempt to play, so my handler should still pay attention during walks.
· With Cats: I’m still learning about cats. I have been around cats before and was able to calmly ignore one after some time, but I became overly excited and tried to chase another. Because I do have some prey drive, any home with cats should introduce us slowly and carefully with supervision.
· With Small Animals/Wildlife: I have a noticeable prey drive toward animals such as squirrels, rats, mice, and occasionally geese. I’ve improved a lot, but my future family should remain attentive when we’re outside.
🏡 MY HOME LIFE 🏡
I’m an easy dog to live with and know how to settle independently. When there’s nothing going on, I’m perfectly happy to sleep and relax.
I am house-trained and normally potty outside. I’m quite particular about my bathroom spots and prefer gravel, dirt, grass, or similar surfaces. I generally poop twice a day—once during my morning walk and once in the evening.
I can also be left home alone and have successfully free-roamed during a full workday without accidents or destructive behaviour. I usually just sleep while my person is away.
I’m partially crate trained. I sleep calmly in my crate overnight and can stay in it during the workday, although I may need a little encouragement to go inside. If I’m crated and everyone leaves the house, I may whine because I’m still working on feeling completely comfortable in that situation.
I’m not destructive, I don’t counter-surf, and I generally leave household items alone. I may occasionally investigate food scraps outside, though, so keep an eye on me during walks!
🌳 MY ACTIVITY & WALKING 🌳
I enjoy my walks! Around one hour of daily exercise works well for me, although I’m happy to do more if you’d like. On rainy days, even 30–45 minutes can be enough, and I’ll still happily settle down afterward.
My leash manners are good overall, although I sometimes wander from side to side. I understand “leave it,” but I may need some extra guidance when something smells particularly interesting.
My recall is still a work in progress, so I should remain leashed in unsecured areas.
I’m also a good traveller and have handled road trips of around four hours well.
🎓 MY TRAINING 🎓
I’m a smart girl and already know lots of cues, including:
Sit, Down, Stay, Wait, Let’s Go, Go to Place, Go to Crate, Spin, Paw, High Five, Sit Pretty, and more!
I respond especially well to food, positive reinforcement, and hand signals. I’m very food motivated, which makes training fun and helps me build positive associations with new experiences.
I used to jump up more often when greeting people, but I’ve made great progress. I may still occasionally forget myself when I’m especially excited, so continued reinforcement will help me keep up my good manners.
🍽️ MY FOOD & RESOURCES 🍽️
I’m very food motivated but have no known food, toy, or object guarding. I’m generally very easygoing around resources.
One important thing to know is that I appear to have a sensitivity to beef, which can cause digestive upset and softer stools, so beef should be avoided.
I’m currently doing well on a lamb-and-rice based diet with two meals per day.
🛁 MY GROOMING & CARE 🛁
I have a beautiful white double coat—and yes, I shed a lot! My future family should be prepared for regular vacuuming and weekly brushing, especially to manage my undercoat.
I’m generally cooperative with grooming when handled gently. My hind legs can be a little sensitive during brushing, and I prefer people not to rush me.
I tolerate baths but don’t particularly enjoy getting wet. I usually need to be gently carried into the bathtub, but once I’m there, I don’t struggle much.
I’m excellent for nail trims with a grinder and can even wag my tail through the process when treats are involved! I’m also used to having my teeth brushed regularly.
Gentle handling is important to me, especially around my mouth. Rough or forceful handling can make me uncomfortable, so patience and positive reinforcement work best.
💛 WHAT HELPS ME THRIVE 💛
I’m a pretty confident girl and have successfully adjusted to things like fireworks, thunderstorms, and busy downtown traffic. When I do feel uncomfortable, you may notice my ears go back, my tail tuck, or some shaking.
The best way to help me is to slow things down. A calm voice, gentle affection, patience, and some tasty treats go a long way. Rushing or forcing me tends to make things harder.
🏠 MY IDEAL HOME 🏠
I’m adaptable and could do well in many different types of homes. I could potentially live with another dog, and I can do well with children.
A home with cats may also be possible, but because of my prey drive and limited experience living with cats, introductions would need to be slow, supervised, and carefully managed.
I don’t need an extremely active household. I enjoy my daily walks, but once I’m home, I’m usually content to relax and sleep.
Most importantly, I’d love a family who appreciates my independent personality while still offering me affection when I’m ready for it—and one that doesn’t mind a little (okay, maybe a lot of!) white fur around the house.
✨ WHY YOU’LL LOVE ME ✨
I’m a sweet, gentle, polite girl who is easy to have around. I’m house-trained, settle beautifully at home, travel well, know lots of cues, and have already learned how to navigate many different environments.
I may seem a little reserved when you first meet me, so a short meet-and-greet might not show you my whole personality. Give me about a few days to a week, and you’ll start seeing the affectionate, curious, and quietly charming girl underneath.
I’m independent enough to enjoy my own space, but I’m also ready to build a loving bond with my future family.
If you’re looking for a calm companion who enjoys her walks, respects your space, has excellent home manners, and will slowly blossom into a loving member of the family, I might just be your girl. 🤍
