🐾 MY RESCUE STORY 🐾
I was rescued from an illegal breeding facility, where my life had been shaped by circumstances beyond my control. Thankfully, rescuers stepped in and brought me to safety, giving me a second chance to experience kindness, comfort, and proper care. Now, I’m leaving that chapter behind and looking forward to a brighter future with a loving forever family who will cherish me as a companion.
🩺 MY HEALTH 🩺
💖 MY PERSONALITY 💖
Hi, I’m Sommel! I’m an unbelievably tiny Poodle with a gentle, peaceful personality that makes me every bit as lovable as my miniature appearance. I’m so incredibly small that my rescuers were almost afraid I might break when they first touched me! But despite my delicate size, I have my own little personality, and there’s something especially charming about how quietly I enjoy the world around me. One of my favorite ways to enjoy life is simply relaxing in a warm patch of sunshine. There’s something wonderfully peaceful about watching such a tiny dog quietly soak up the sun without a care in the world.
When we first meet, I might play a little hard to get. If you approach me, I may dodge your hands or scamper away as though I have somewhere very important to be. But my little game of keep-away usually doesn't last long. Once I feel comfortable and allow someone to pick me up, I settle down quite nicely and happily enjoy being held and gently petted. I may need a moment to decide that everything is okay, but underneath that initial hesitation is a very sweet little companion.
I may be one of the tiniest dogs you’ll ever meet, but I have a special way of making ordinary moments feel incredibly sweet. Whether I’m curled up comfortably in someone’s arms, enjoying a gentle cuddle, or resting peacefully in a sunny spot, I don’t need much to be content. I’m hoping to find a family who will treasure my gentle nature, protect my tiny little body, and give me a warm, safe place to enjoy all the simple pleasures of being loved.
🐶 MY SOCIAL SKILLS 🐶
· With People: I can be a little shy when I first meet someone, but treats are a great way to win me over! I’m happy to accept a tasty snack, and it usually doesn’t take long before I warm up and feel comfortable being petted. Once I get to know and trust you, my affectionate side comes out—I may even roll over and show you my belly!
I’m also comfortable being gently picked up with an arm supporting me under my belly. I haven’t had experience with children under 13 yet, so my comfort level with younger kids is still unknown.
· With Dogs: I’m comfortable approaching unfamiliar dogs to say hello, but I generally prefer a friendly greeting rather than engaging in play. I don’t show much interest in interacting with other dogs beyond a quick hello and am usually happy doing my own thing. Larger dogs can make me feel a little nervous or uncomfortable, and I can also feel overwhelmed by dogs with high energy levels. I’m generally more comfortable around calm, gentle dog companions who respect my space.
· With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown
⚡️ ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY ⚡️
I have a low energy level – I’m happiest taking things easy and enjoying plenty of quiet time to relax.
I’m still practicing my leash skills and getting used to going on walks, and with continued practice, patience, and gentle guidance, I can gradually become more comfortable and confident outdoors.
🧠 TRAINING & HABITS 🧠
I don’t guard my food around people or other dogs
I’m calm and settled when I’m in a kennel.
I’m comfortable using both indoor pee pads and going potty outdoors.
🏡 MY IDEAL HOME 🏡
I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with:
💌 SPECIAL NOTES 💌
Because I’m exceptionally small, my future family will need to be especially mindful of my safety. I’m tiny enough to slip through gaps and openings that might seem far too small for an ordinary dog, so secure doors, gates, fencing, and careful supervision will be essential. I should never be left to explore an unsecured outdoor space, and my family will need to be attentive to my whereabouts, especially during the initial adjustment period. My delicate size also means I should be handled gently and carefully.
